Notes for Simon Kamienetsky
NOTE: Zeivel is often Americanized to Simon, so it is possible Isaac Zievel is the same name as Isaac Simon. But without more definitive records from Ukraine, it may not be possible to find out exactly what his given name was.
NOTE: about the surname, there are major inconsistencies on the records for his children, primarily because the name had to be transliterated to English. Comanecka and Kamienecka would be different spellings of the same surname. See the surname spellings used for Isaac Kaminsky, whose early marriage and U.S. census records were under the surname Comminske, Comiski and Cominski.
NOTE: Cherup surname appeared as maiden name of his daughter Rachel on granddaughter Bessie's death certificate but we know of no Cherup relatives. There is a Charlip society, of people with Charlip ancestry. Maybe someone said "Cheer up" when answering questions, and that was mistaken as a surname.
