Notes for Mary S Raypole
BIRTH NOTE: her exact date of birth is not clear. Many trees as well as her death record indicate a birth of 22 Jun 1870, but other records show 1868 or 1872. And she is definitely NOT shown in 1870 census with parents, and that census was taken on June 9, 1870. That does not rule out her being elsewhere for the census, but that seems unlikely for a 2 week old infant, unless she and her mother were living with mother's parents. Need to check on this.
NOTE: It is not at all clear who her mother was. Her death record indicates her mother was Elizabeth Ramsey, but according to all other records and trees, her father married Hester Cook after his first wife Isabelle died in 1867. After Hester passed away in 1894, he married Rebecca, with whom he apparently had no children. Mary's second husband was the informant for her death record, and he may have given his own mother's name or have not known the correct answer to who her mother was, since her mother was deceased by the time Mary married him.

NOTE: seems to have had at least two wives: Isabell (earlier) and Hester (in 1880 census). It is not at all clear where the name Elizabeth Ramsey comes in as daughter Mary's mother, which is what is on Mary's death record. Then there is the 3rd wife he married 1894 when Hester apparently died. John's mother was Elizabeth Butt per most trees, so maybe that is where Elizabeth came from, but also, it could just be error on the death certificate. 1900 census indicates both his parents were born in Virginia
