BIRTH NOTE: 1901 Census of Canada disagrees with birthdate and birthplace found in later records, all of which indicate that he was born in the State of Washington . But according to the 1901 Census of Canada, Mose was born in Aug or Oct (month hard to read) in 1898 in British Columbia, and was 3 years old. Rumor has it that he or one of his brothers moved his birthdate to an earlier year in order to retire early with Social Security, it seems most likely to be him. We have not been able to find a birth or travel record that would prove where he was born, one way or the other, but I believe he was really born in 1898 in British Columbia, most likely New Westminster.

the US Census for 1910 shows immigration 1888, for 1920 shows immigration 1889 with naturalization in 1894. 1930 census shows immigration in 1887. And his Border Crossing ID Card issued in 1948 shows he arrived in the U.S. in 1888 at New York.

NATURALIZATION NOTE: Naturalization inquiry he made in Jan 1950 showed no record of voting registration in the Great Register of Voters of San Francisco for either 1897 or 1898. That makes sense, he was in Canada. But he was seeking proof he was naturalized.

OCCUPATION NOTE: Family story goes that he could not get through law school but pretended to be a lawyer. Note that he did not have more than a high school education, per the 1940 census. Many family members believed he was a lawyer, but he definitely was not.

BIRTH NOTE: The 1910 and 1920 censuses when he was living with his parents, make it clear that he was born in but by the time of the 1930 and 1940 censuses, he was saying he was born in New York, which is what was also recorded in the California Death Index. Have not found a birth record for him in either New York or Canada, to prove this beyond a doubt. Nor a passenger entry record when the family came back to the USA after living in Canada several years.

The only discrepancy is the record has Henry being Married, with the M (for married) having marks on it, possibly indicating a question about the accuracy of the M vs. W for Widowed.
