This page consists of up to 50 profiles of people in this database. Each profile can contain information about that person's parents, spouses, and children, if we know about them, with links to the profiles of those people. And for deceased family members, we have posted whatever we know about their births, marriages, and deaths, along with notes and sometimes their occupations.
For best results, we suggest you start with a known family member, and either use your browser's find tool to find the person you are looking for, or look for their name in our name index. Once you find them, click on their name, and that will take you to that person's profile. Then, as you read that person's profile, you can click on the names of their parents, spouses and children to obtain more information about these immediate relatives by visiting their profiles.
Note that the people on this page are not listed in any logical order, and the fact that any two people are on this page or that their profiles are next to each other only means that their database ID numbers happen to be close, but that has nothing to do with how closely related they are to each other. Sometimes immediate relatives will happen to be next to each other on these pages, but that is not something that can be counted on. For the best results, please follow the instructions provided above for browsing the tree.

In lieu of that, the city directories show Tauba being widowed before 1920, and since son Morris is supporting mother (and not his parents) on WWI draft card, father likely to be gone before 1917.

NAME NOTE: Her maiden name appears in various official records sometimes as Halbert and sometimes as Holbert.
BIRTH SOURCES: [S2] [S13] [S134] [S137] [S138] [S152]
DEATH SOURCES: [S13]
BURIAL SOURCES: [S13]
NOTE: According to her death certificate, her father is Joseph Halbert or Holbert, but in attempting to locate Mary Jane in the 1850 census, the only record turning up in our searches is that of a Mary Holbert who is the daughter of John and Heth Holbert, residing in Johnson township, St Francis, Arkansas. And a number of other researchers claim that John Holbert's wife Hethy Robinson was our Mary Jane's mother. However, two researchers with member trees at Ancestry.com are claiming that Hethy was John's second wife, and that Mary Jane's mother was Mary Curz or Curg, and one family tree here at WorldConnect quotes history books indicating that the Mary who was a daughter of John Holbert married a Widener and a McGaffey.
The trees stating that Mary Jane's mother was Mary Curz are wrong, Mary Cury was the mother of the wife of Mary Jane's son John, which was an easy mistake to make in constructing a tree using Ancestry.com's family tree software. See the 1910 census for JR Akins age 53 in Missouri.
Also note that Mary Jane's death record says her father was Joseph, and the birthplaces of Hethy Holbert in Kentucky and husband John Holbert in South Carolina that are shown in both 1850 and 1860 do not agree with the birthplace of Missouri shown in the 1880 census for both of Mary Jane's parents.
So, if Mary Jane Holbert was not living in Arkansas in 1850, where was she? We get a tip from the 1860 census (see census transcription below), when 14 year old Chas W Wingfield is living with Mary J and her first husband John Akins in Madison Township, Missouri.
Going backwards in time to the 1850 census (see transcription below), we find 5 year old Charles Wingfield living with Omer and Mary Wingfield in Newton County, Missouri, and Mary (actually Mahala) was born in Missouri. In that same census record, we find Mary (age 14) along with Thomas (age 19) and John (age 20), erroneously listed under the surname Wingfield rather than Holbert. They were born before their stepfather Owen (mistaken as Omar) and mother Mahala Baldridge Holbert were married, which was in 1838, after Mary, Thomas and John were born.
Note that the 1850 and 1860 censuses are available for free from home from HeritageQuest thru public libraries, and also for free at familysearch.org. and by paid subscription at other sites such as Ancestry.com

BIRTH NOTE: The 1860 census indicates he was born in Tennessee, but both the 1870 and 1880 census indicate he was born in Arkansas, with the 1880 census saying he was born in Arkansas and his parents were born in Tennessee. So seems more likely to have been born in Arkansas.

Notes for Ruth Akins
BIRTH SOURCES: [S5]
NOTE: she is not listed in 1920 census or later, may have passed away or actually been misenumerated in 1910 as a female, as brother Bruce C is not listed in 1910 census. Need to check their actual birthdates, but since Bruce is down as age 21 in the 1930 census, seems likely he was misenumerated as Ruth in 1910. This thought is further supported by the fact that mother Louise indicated on the census that she had 5 children born to her, all 5 of whom were still living at that time. And we count exactly 5 children enumerated with the family in the 1910 census. See transcription below.

1920 United States Federal Census
Date: 7 January 1920
Place: Moline, Rock Island, Illinois
Address: 508 12th Street
Household:
Married couple Nosch VANAUSDOLL (age 24) and Dorthy [sic] VANAUSDOLL (age 17)
with mother-in-law Anna PETERSON (age 45), sister in law Hazel PETERSON (age 1 or 7)
and brother in law LeRoy PETERSON (age 25). Age for Hazel is equivocal, looks like
age 1, was transcribed as 7 yrs at Ancestry. She cannot be Leroy's sister unless Anna
had a child at least 3-9 years after husband died. Or maybe her husband did not die
and she just said she was widowed, but she also is in 1928 Moline city directory as
widow of Albert J Peterson. Plus, information from a cousin is that Frank had a daughter
Hazel who yodelled on Milwaukee radio, so it seems more likely that Frank's daughter was
visiting or staying with them at the time of the 1920 census.

This family tree is an updated copy of the Grossman branch of our Feldberg Family Tree at Rootsweb, which was taken temporarily offline for security updates by Ancestry in December 2017. While our tree at Rootsweb's WorldConnect Project stopped being updateable by us, and did not have as many people as our updated tree here, it had many more interesting features, including sources as well as ahnentafel, pedigree and descendant reports for those people who are in the original tree.
If the ahnentafel, registry, descendancy or pedigree charts in our backup copy are not complete enough for you, email us using the Contact Us link below, and we will try to help. The URL for that enhanced version of our tree is now at http://blumstein.tribalpages.com
